Omega2 Annual Leave Calculator
Many employers already offer their permanent staff members 28 days as a result of Bank Holiday days being added to the previous statutory minimum (4 weeks). The less scrupulous employers forced their workers to take their annual leave days on Bank Holidays, thereby keeping their costs down. The latter approach was frowned upon, but within the letter of the law. The UK held onto this anomaly for some years.
Statutory holiday entitlement will be increasing from 1 October 2007 to 4.8 weeks (24 days if a five day week) and from 1 April 2009 to 5.6 weeks (28 days if a five day week) but this now includes Bank Holidays. This will be pro-rata for those working part-time.
Where the employer already gives 28 days (including the bank holidays) the employee receives no change in entitlement.
The annual leave calculator below allows you to calculate the new annual leave entitlement for full time employees working a 5 day standard working week.
